Conjuring Charters and Cornish Countryside

St. Michael's Mount
Unfortunately for my social life, I've been sucked back into the Garth Nix's Abhorson Trilogy. I'm just about done with the second book in about a week and keep successively dreaming about precarious situations and dangerous obstacles only to be battled through the use of charter magic. See, I've dreamt multiple times about being a wizard but never dreamt within applicable situations like this. I think I'd rather be an abhorson and battle the dead instead. Go read the books if you haven't, they're phenomenal.

On a (slightly) more productive note, classes started yesterday. I went to a seminar in the lecture hall and then we were supposed to have a class discussion but everyone just...gathered around and no one did anything so we all went home. Today, I had my Wildlife Forensics class. Stable isotopes or unstable, they can still go suck a huge one.

Along the western coast
I went to the salsa class at the Watersport's Center on Tuesday and it was wicked fun. I wasn't a huge fan of salsa before but this was a great atmosphere and danced with some good dancers and learning more moves to add to the repertoire made it even more enjoyable. Not to mention the basically open bar afterwards.  Now there's choices: Folk dancing Monday, Salsa Tuesday and Jive on Thursdays. It's almost like getting my ballroom fix. :)

Lizard point
Last weekend I went exploring around Cornwall with my friend Dan. Went to St. Michael's Mount which was gorgeous. A giant castle situated on top of a hill on an island and there's a stone walkway that is exposed during low tide and you can walk across it. It was about a half an hour drive or so. We walked across the path and walked around the hill for a bit but since the castle is closed during the winter we couldn't really do much except walk around and poke through the little tide pools to see if anything was living in them.

Then, we went on a hike around the rocks on the coastline after driving down the cutest little cornish lane that was barely large enough for one small car. Apparently, if you meet someone on the road, one of them has to reverse to a point to let the other car through. It's not a very sensible idea I think but it sure is adorable. We climbed and ended up at Lizard Point, the southern most point in the UK. At sunset. Beautiful.

That's all I really have, not many interesting things have happened. Out of the normal chaos anyways.
